The one thing that is cheating is the fact that all of the characters somehow all know each other.well, almost all of them which is a pretty cheat way of getting around one of the major hurdles that pop's up in the book. There is growth from the main character as well as some of the supporting characters. Doesn't throw it away, but learns how to shift it to it's a bit more manageable.

He also starts getting over some the emotional baggage that he has. He's reluctant at first, but as time goes on, he starts to open up a little bit. The thing I like most about him is the fact that he understands that he's weak and he also understands that he needs the help of the people around him. He grows a backbone (kinda) and starts to figure out how to pull his weight. It has all of those elements EXCEPT for the guy who runs away from everyone.

This is like, if you read Manga and the main protagonist of the story has all of these different girls trying woo him and all he does is cry pretty much the whole story? This ain't it. I was originally annoyed with the MC and put this book down a few times, but after a certain point, the MC actually starts to develop a backbone and come out of his shell. So, this was actually worth grinding out.
